Venerdì 8 febbraio, alle ore 18.00, il PAN ospita la prima delle conversazioni taiwanesi in programma nell’ambito della mostra “Tracce nel futuro”. Protagonista dell’incontro, l’artista taiwanese Chen Chieh-jen, presente alla collettiva con un cortometraggio di forte impatto sociale che documenta le performance organizzate da ex operai in siti industriali abbandonati, per raccontare il disperato tentativo di prolungare la storia dell’economia taiwanese del novecento basata sulla manodopera.Il film, privo di qualsiasi effetto sonoro, presenta le operaie che ritornano nella fabbrica per ‘lavorare’, i loro gesti fisici e le immagini frammentarie delle loro proteste dell’epoca, ‘scannerizzando’ i loro movimenti estremamente semplici. Immagini elementari miscelate con sequenze del documentario prodotto dal governo negli anni Sessanta, quando l’industria manifatturiera di Taiwan muoveva i suoi primi passi lungo una strada fatta di contrasti reciproci.
Dopo l’incontro seguirà la proiezione dei video dell’artista: “The Route”,2006, film in 35 mm,16′ 45″; “On Going”, 2006, film in 35mm, 26′56″.
